Analytical Workshop on University of Southern Denmark

BASCAP Analytical Workshop was arranged by University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Copenhagen Campus, Studiestræde 6, 1455 København from 5th to 9 March 2024. A research team from Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) attended the work shop. The members of the team from SDU and BUHS were:

In the workshop, Professor Jan Vang from SDU presented on Global supply chains and sustainability in the global South, and the audit market in Bangladesh - now and in the future. Recent developments in research and teaching at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences and influence from the political development presented by Honourable Vice Chancellor Professor Faridul Alam.

Julie Bundgaard presented findings from three different conducted studies where titles of the studies were:

  • • The review of research literature on social compliance audits.
  • • Weaving worker voices into the fabric of research.
  • • The hopefulness and hardship of Bangladeshi garment workers - a photo voice study.
  • • What to expect from worker interviews during social compliance audits

Sarmin Sultana presented also presented her study findings. The titles of her study were:

  • • How Social Audit requirements are translated into Management behaviour in the Ready-made garments industries in Bangladesh?
  • • How does the Social Compliance Audit make an Impact on the Occupational Safety and Health Culture in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) Industries in Bangladesh?

The study findings were highly appreciated by the attending participants. They expressed their urged to translate the findings in to policy documents which can improve the working environment of RMG sector in Bangladesh.

In a different presentation Dr. Saika Nizam elaborated the Ideas and plans for further scientific writing and popular dissemination in Bangladesh.

As a part of the workshop, the visiting Bangladeshi team went to SDU Odense campus to visit the health faculty with presentation of educations and research and presentation of newest knowledge about prevention of RSI by Aftale med Karen Søgaard. Also visited to the tech faculty including robots and drones.
